AYLA

Ayla was abandoned in a field near a busy highway.  She was seen several mornings by a volunteer while on her way to work & ultimately rescued & brought to the Sanctuary.  At right is a picture of Ayla & her rescuer just after she was captured.  Anne had spent many mornings & evenings putting out food & water for this sweet girl & gaining her confidence so that she could be brought to safety.  It appeared that Ayla was as happy to be caught as Anne was to catch her.  Ayla is an Akita-X.  She is only about a year old & weighs in at around 50 lbs. She is very intelligent, sweet natured & eager to please. We had hoped that her very Special Person would soon find her & take her to her Forever Home.  That prayer has now been answered.  Below are just a few pictures of Ayla & her new family.  We expect to receive many more over the next months & years & will post them when we get them.

Update 3-06-2006:  Hi Carol and All: Ayla’s tail sprung up when she walked into the house the first time Saturday and it hasn’t gone down since! She’s really doing well. We went for a nice long walk that afternoon and she didn’t pull on the leash at all, either she was heeling or hiding behind me as we were walking. Whatever it was she was having fun, so we walked again Sunday for more than 2 miles. She worked up quite an appetite, and quickly let me know she prefers grilled chicken to Pedigree . . .

Shadow’s being very patient and gentle with her. Every once in awhile he gets this look on his face and lets out a huge sigh, rolls his eyes and lays his head on his paws when she gets a burst of puppy energy. I’ve reminded him a couple of times he was that age once too!

Thanks so much for the unconditional kindness, generosity and care you are giving to these animals and for saving their lives, especially Ayla’s. She will have a long and happy life here.
