LITTLE JOE'S STORY: Howard, the ACO in Jacksboro got a call about this little guy. He found him running down a street in Jacksboro and brought him to our vet's office. He said his shelter was full and he just couldn't put him to sleep after all he had been through. This is the sweetest little guy you ever saw to have been through so much. We have Little Joe on antibiotics and pain meds. We are going to do whatever we can to find the people who did this to him. This sounds like the work of a group of people who hold dog fights in and around Jacksboro. This baby was destined to be a fighter or he was going to be used for bait. At this very moment they are probably doing this to another helpless animal. When people put "free to good home" ads in the newspapers, these people will go get them and use them for bait dogs to train their fighters. Other dogs that come up missing from back yards or those that are allowed to roam are usually stolen by these people and also used as "bait" for the fighters. They simply throw them to their fighting dogs and let them tear them to pieces. They will cut the ears off a dog so the other dog will have nothing to get hold of. Same with the tail. They will beat and starve them until they are mean enough then they'll throw them into a pit and let them fight another dog till one of them is dead. They place bets & gamble on the winner. It's important to realize the extent of the damage done to this puppy. He will have to be an inside dog for the best part. If he's outside when it rains or the sprinkler is going, there is nothing to keep the water from getting into his ears. This sweet little guy will touch the hearts of a lot of good people and we'll find him the very best home in the world. We would also like to ask the citizens of Jacksboro to donate to a reward fund which will be offered for the capture of the persons responsible for this barbaric act of Animal Cruelty. Little Joe has, by this act of cruelty, become what we call "a special needs dog". If you would like to help pay for the medical care he will need to recover from this mutilation, please make your donations to our Special Needs Fund for the care of Little Joe & others like him. Thank You. |
