Mandy

This is Mandy. She's probably Lab & GSD. She came to us in April, 2004.  She had ticks all over her and had Ehrlichiosis so bad we were afraid that she would bleed to death if she had any type of injury.

That was then .. this is now - some 18 months later.  Mandy has been adopted.  The pictures & updates from her new family are evidence that she is in her forever home.

Mandy has fit right in to her new home & family.
We have received several updates & they are posted below the pictures.

Update 12/31/2005
Hi Carole,
Well, the meeting was this morning instead of tomorrow.   I took Mandy down to Mom's with a red bow and a card with everybody's name on it.  You can see the reaction.  It was love at first sight.  Mandy has been very gentle with Mom and Mom is already doing what she can to spoil her rotten, including sharing her cake with her at lunch!  We picked up our four-year-old grandson today and he and Mandy are already good friends.  She has certainly found her furever family here.  I just love her to pieces and I know Mom does, too.  She was staying pretty close to me when I first took her over there, but now she stays by Mom's side a lot of the time when I'm there.  She's too big for the beds I made for her, so we fixed a blanket for her tonight and I'll get her a bigger bed ready by tomorrow night.

We are so thankful there are people like you who pour your hearts and souls into saving and caring for these poor neglected, abused, and tossed aside pets and provide them with a safe haven.  It's so wonderful what you do.

Doesn't Mandy look beautiful in her red bow?  I'll give her a hug from you and Pat when I go over there in the morning.  We'll keep you posted on how she's doing.

Update 1/04/2006
Hi Carole,
It looks like love to me!  Mandy is the perfect dog for Mom. She is so sweet and well-behaved. I'm planning to take her to meet our vet next week, after she's had a little time to start feeling secure in her new home. I'm anxious to see how much she weighs. She is a BIG girl! Just that much more to love!

Update 1/05/2006
Hi Carole,
We took Mandy on to see the vet today. She was excited and made friends with everybody in the office. He gave her a clean bill of health, but said we need to watch her weight. She weighs 100.6 lbs. He guessed her age at 7-8, said she is in great shape with no signs of any problems. What can I say, she is just an exceptional girl! Of course, you already know that. He also said she will be a good watchdog and easily trained (she's smart). We think she is wonderful. She also got her rabies shot and heartworm preventative.

Here is a picture of Mandy with our grandson (Mom's great-grandson) and Mom's cat, Sweet Pea. Mandy is VERY photogenic!

Update 2/02/2006
Hi Carole,
Well, Mandy has been here almost five weeks now. She is doing very well, happy and healthy. Here she is playing with "Froggy". She has such a wonderful personality, she makes us laugh with her antics. Mom has a loyal companion in Mandy. There is no doubt whose dog she is, she is by Mom's side all the time. She likes it when I come to visit and play, but when I get ready to go, she is back at Mom's side. We are so thankful you took her in and took care of her while she was waiting for us to find her.
Later,
Linda

P.S. Mandy says "hi".

We will continue to add updates as more news about Mandy & her new family is sent to us.

Update 6-18-2006

Mandy is enjoying her special status as the Queen of the household.  At left is a picture of her waiting for her after-dinner cookie.  We understand this is a ritual at every meal.  One would think she is just a bit spoiled .. but we can't think of any furbaby who deserves it any more.

Update 12-24-2006:
Hi Carole and Sue,
We're coming up on Mandy's first anniversary with Mom and we are still absolutely thrilled with her. She is the best dog I have ever seen. As you can see, my five year old grandson takes her for her walk when he is here. She walks beside him (or me) and never gives us any problems at all. She is the perfect dog. Her skin problems have cleared up and she is more beautiful than ever. We are so lucky to have found her. Mom calls her "my baby" and brags about how smart she is and how she understands what we say. I have to agree that she does seem to know what we're talking about much of the time. We go for a walk every day as soon as Mom finishes her lunch. If I'm off in another part of the house, Mandy comes and gets me. She won't let me put it off either, which is good since I need the walk as much as she does.

Long story short-we love, love, love this dog! And we thank you so much for letting us bring her home to Mom. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Love,
Linda, Michael, Mom, and Mandy
