In Memoriam ...
At the end of the Rainbow Bridge there is a Peaceful Valley
where our beloved pets who have gone before wait for us.
Someday we will be together again.

Popeye
1993 - 2003

Popeye came to us from Operation Kindness.  We were never too sure exactly how old he was.  He had been there for quite a while and wasn’t likely to be adopted because of his gross dislike for human male animals.  Anytime one of the male volunteers at Operation Kindness, who didn’t know about Popeye, would take him out for a walk; you would see Popeye chasing them with them holding onto the leash.  They usually ended up on the hood of a car.  It was just what he wanted.  He also had a major overshot lower jaw that made him look really vicious.  Popeye only weighed about 20 or so pounds but you would have thought he was the size of a Mastiff the way he took out after those guys and the way they ran.  What a sight.

Popeye always slept on the bed with me and several other of the smaller, older dogs.  He didn’t venture out very much and when he did, it was to bark at someone he didn’t think needed to be here.  I’m going to miss this little guy although not many of the dogs will.  If they got to close to his sleeping place, he would snap those jaws at them.  He never connected and it’s a good thing he didn’t.

Popeye left us on July 3, 2003.  He was cremated and his ashes will be spread in the Memorial Garden here at the sanctuary.
