What her name was
before isn’t important. She’s a precious little two-year-old white with
some tan, Chihuahua. She weighs maybe six pounds. Her first humans were
older and while they loved her, they were afraid they would trip over her
so they gave her to their daughter who had kids. These old folks thought
their grandkids would enjoy her. Unfortunately, they mistreated and
abused her and she responded the only way she knew. She bit the little
heathens. When this happened, the parents of the little heathens picked
her up and threw her against a wall. They didn’t attempt to correct their
kids.
This happened more
than once and now she’s frightened to death when anyone tries to pick her
up. We had to throw a towel over her to catch her. Once she’s caught,
she will get as close to you as she can. My heart hurts for this sweet
little girl. She’s the most loving little darling God ever breathed life
into but it’s going to take a long time before she’s going to be able to
be adopted. She needs to be held and to know that she’s safe and not all
humans are bad.
Abby is at our vet
and will be examined to see if any injuries were sustained from her
mistreatment. We’ll do all we can to allay her fears and give her a
chance to recover from the trauma inflicted on her by these ignorant,
uncaring people.
As long as I live, I
will never be able to understand how some people can do the horrible
things they do to animals. I know you’ve all heard that dog spelled
backwards is God. I believe anytime an animal is mistreated, God takes
notice. I think God put the dog on earth to show humans how pure His love
for us is and to somehow give us a chance to learn how to accept this
pure, unselfish love and hopefully, return it.
Animals see us as God
does. Remember that the next time you’ve had a bad day and you come
in and don’t want to be bothered by the kids or your spouse or the dog.
You might want to reconsider how you respond to them
because ... the dog is watching.
WONDERFUL UPDATE:
Abby has been adopted into a loving new
home. She will spend the rest of her life as the spoiled & adored
little girl that she deserves to be. God truly is watching
over her.

Subject: Abbey.......Update.... Abbey ....Update.......
I cant stand it any longer...I have to email you and tell you all about
Abbey...!!!! I had hoped to have some pics of her by now but have
been working like crazy and will be sending some soon........ You wouldn't
believe the change that has come over her... !!!!!!
She settled down a bit on the long way home,
however.. when we got home .. she was really tense for a couple of days.
She didn't want to be touched to little .. or touched too
much... and every time we reached for her ... to pick her up and love on
her .. she would run away... ( afraid of hands )....
Starting the third day...she really started coming around... She started
jumping up on the couch .. and the bed... and would snuggle close ... and
we pet her constantly to get her used to hands coming at her.. Hands that
won't harm, beat or throw her..
She didn't like the Leash at all at first .. but after only a day would go
in and out of the house easily and not put up any argument at all for the
leash... Outside... she was a bit bewildered. but after several walks
around the big yard, she is aware of her boundaries and does not bother to
go outside of those boundaries..
She was paper trained when we got her...but now she is housebroken and I
have to admit it was the easiest thing in the world to do....The only time
she has a "mistake" is when the ground is very wet AND cold.....( Heck, I
wouldn't want to go there either...)....
My remaining male cocker spaniel has fallen in love with her...( both are
fixed )...and protects her when they go outside.....( a neighbors small
dog ran up to sniff of Abbey and Rusty took out after the other dog and
bit him on his tail....!!!! That silly sniffer wont even venture near
anymore...... but I was ecstatic to find out that Rusty has taken such a
protective roll over Abbey... and they snuggle together and play together
all of the time...
Abbey has started playing her own games.... Chase's her tail. Carrying
around all of her toys...( yes she already has many toys..) .. We also
built her own stepping stool of two steps so she can easily jump up on the
bed... ( she had to bounce three times before to get up there )... But now
up the steps quicker than lightening she goes and will just play play
play.....
Carol, I cannot tell you how much she brightens our home, and our hearts
and I can't quit petting her and loving on her that I just want to bust
!!! She gives so much love back already that it is astounding .. Now, When
we reach for her .. she doesn't shrink back in fear .. she knows that we
have lots of love for her and or a treat....she never winces any more...
Lastly ..she has found her voice.....while she would growl at first...are
now flirty, fun barks... playful growls at our other dog .. and her and
the cat make up their own games of chasing each other and we just sit back
and laugh at the show.... it is absolutely hysterical.... .again... all
because of Animal Angels.
I thank you so much.. for your kind, considerate ways with all of these
lovely animals .. and I thank GOD that you were his instrument in showing
us to Abbey... She is dearly loved and this is only the beginning....
