In Memoriam ... At the end of the Rainbow Bridge there is a Peaceful Valley where our beloved pets who have gone before wait for us. Someday we will be together again.

Alice Walton's’ story isn’t
much different from hundreds of other animals we have rescued. You always She was in pretty good health but was skinny and seemed like she was just so sad. We got her to the vet, got all the necessary vaccinations, spayed, etc. and brought her to our sanctuary. The first few days she was here, she just walked around and was very quite. One evening, we were getting everyone where they needed to be and ready for bed, I discovered Alice Walton was gone. I’m still baffled as to how she got out but she was sure enough, gone. It was dark but we looked until I was afraid we would frighten her off so we went inside. All night, I prayed she would come home. The next morning, I looked out and lo and behold, there she was, laying under the truck. I would like to believe she figured she was better off here that wandering around in the woods. She has been here ever since. Within a month or so, she began to perk up and put on a little weight and started to play with the other dogs. Now she is firmly established as one to be respected. She’s taught some of the younger dogs some much needed manners too. I doubt that anyone will adopt Alice Walton because of her advanced age. That is their loss but our gain. In any event, she will be allowed to live her life out with us but if anyone should decide they can’t live without her, she would add so much to their life.
UPDATE:
Our sweet Alice suffered a massive stroke which left her completely
disabled. She was gently helped across the Rainbow Bridge with the
aid of humane lethal injection, cradled in the arms of her Momdog, Carole,
who had loved & watched over her for so many years. She is very much
missed but we all know that she is waiting for us to join her someday. |
