Bonnie

Bonnie & Clyde were a brother-sister pair of Treeing Walker Coonhounds that came to the Sanctuary late in 2001.  Clyde was soon adopted but Bonnie remained with us, overlooked & passed over by potential adopters.

Hound dogs generally make great indoor pets because unless they are on a "hunt", they rarely are inclined to be very energetic.  They are perfectly content to be couch potatoes & to keep the rug warm while the humans are away.

The best things in life really are worth waiting for & Bonnie waited for 3 long years before her very Special Person found her & came to take her home.  But it was worth the wait.  Sweet Bonnie now has a "furever home" of her own.  After being at the Sanctuary for so long it is taking her a bit to realize that she is now a member of her very own family.  Her new Mom says she gets a little less shy every day.  Soon Miss Bonnie will relax & settle in to being just what every hound dog dreams of becoming .. the designated official food taster & couch warmer by day & the family foot warmer by night.

*** We look forward to getting updates & pictures from home soon.

UPDATE 02-03-2005:  S-l-o-w-l-y but surely Bonnie is starting to chill out. She now at least acts glad to see me and wags her tail. I wasn't expecting her to come when called, but at first she hid from me in the bushes. Now she comes out and sort of teases me for a while but will finally come up to me and let me guide her inside the house. She still jumps out of her skin at 'loud' noises (anything above a talk or anything sudden).

Won't be long before Miss Bonnie is settled comfortably on her favorite bed or rug, doing what "hound-dawgs" do best ...
