Pretty little Maddie, the Red Heeler, came to live at the Sanctuary in the summer of 2005.  Like so many others that are commonly found dumped & stray in ranching country, she was at risk of being shot if she wandered in to a pasture where there was livestock.  Her natural herding instincts could be perceived as "chasing" the livestock & any rancher could shoot her for this to protect his herd.  Lucky for Maddie, she was brought to the safety of the Sanctuary before she got in to any trouble.

Maddie's life has now taken a wonderful turn for the better.  Her Very Special People saw her picture on our website and she has been adopted in to her very own Furever Home.  Maddie & her new folks will spend a lot of their time traveling around the country since they are retired & like to travel.  We hope to get new pictures & updates soon & will post them when we get them.
