In Memoriam ... At the end of the Rainbow Bridge there is a Peaceful Valley where our beloved pets who have gone before wait for us. Someday we will be together again.

Nikki & Tex
Together again

The story I’m about to tell you
is at once heartrending, funny and all the emotions in-between.
In the early Spring of 2003, we had occasion to be called about a family that had split up and left two dogs. There was a fifty-pound brindle, eight-year-old female Pit Bull named Nikki and a three-year-old, white and tan, eight-pound male Chihuahua X named Tex. His tail was screwed up in a tight little knot so we expect his mom may have had a passing acquaintance with a Pug. They had always been together and if you could see them together, there’s no way in God's world you could separate them. Tex would be wherever Nikki was & if she stopped too fast, he would run into her butt. They slept together, ate together and groomed each other. Nikki loved attention and having her belly scratched. She would lick you till you'd think you were fixing to drown. Tex would “talk” your leg off. They were raised with twin boys and both were very gentle with them when they were babies. Over the years, they never changed. They missed the kids but they still had each other. In April of this year, we lost little Tex to what appeared to be heart failure. Today, October 15, 2004, Nikki joined him at the Bridge. She had gone into total renal failure & was humanely euthanized. We will miss the antics of this unlikely pair but we rejoice in the knowledge that they are together again. That is how is was meant to be. |
