In Memoriam ...
At the end of the Rainbow Bridge there is a Peaceful Valley
where our beloved pets who have gone before wait for us.
Someday we will be together again.

as told by his adopted Mom

Feb. 07, 2004 - Rusty is a beautiful Shepherd/Chow mix that we adopted from the Humane Society of North TX the second week of January.  I picked him up on Tuesday and he became ill that same Friday. I had already scheduled an appointment with our regular vet Saturday. Our vet hoped it was just a case of Kennel Cough but prepared us for the possibility of Distemper even though his papers showed he was vaccinated the week before.  Rusty started antibiotics immediately and has been spoiled rotten so far. His lab work came back positive for Distemper but we're still giving him all the love and care we can. This has been just devastating for us because the whole point of adopting was to "save a life".  We never thought anything like this could happen. Rusty is now showing the signs of neurological damage and we know we are on borrowed time.  In the short 3+ weeks we've had him, he has been an amazing dog that has really touched us. We were lucky to have found him that day and aren't angry about what happened. We did save him and will be able to love him for however long we have together.

Feb. 09, 2004 - Sadly, we lost our battle with Rusty's Distemper this evening and helped him cross over The Rainbow Bridge.  We were blessed to have had this tender soul come into our lives and he will be greatly missed.

Even with all of our sadness, we know that there is another special someone for us that needs a home. We're planning a trip at the end of next month to your facility to see if there is an angel there waiting for us.  I know there is. Maybe even 2.
