In Memoriam ...
At the end of the Rainbow Bridge there is a Peaceful Valley
where our beloved pets who have gone before wait for us.
Someday we will be together again.

Wolfgang Person
07/04/1999 - 05/02/2008

Wolfgang passed over the Rainbow Bridge at 18:50, Friday, May 2nd, 2008. We had a lot of quality time together the last few days. He left with dignity and grace, with Blue at his side. He was terminal but just into the "uncomfortable stage".  I wanted to spare him the "in pain stage". We had another long romp in the forest this afternoon and I think he was amazed that I let him eat all the grass he wanted and even swim in the pond a couple of times. Jim and Nancy are wonderful friends to Wolf. They made this troubling time a little easier.

Wolfgang was born on the 4th of July, 1999. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Both his mom and dad were registered yellow Labs (big deal). He lived with a family in Burleson that had just bought a new house and decided they had no room for a 9 month old dog as big as Wolf (his name was Max then).....so they asked everyone they came into contact with if they wanted "a big o'l yeller dog". I got word of this through a contact at Siemans International. She gave me directions to his location. Needless to say, he came home with me that day.

I lived in Colleyville then and had about 1/3 of an acre backyard with a 6' stockade fence surrounding 3 sides of the house and a wrought iron fence/gate 10' wide at the end of the driveway that enclosed the final fourth side. Absolutely inescapable (I thought). Within hours of adopting this big guy, I put him in my backyard and went after the basic necessities (big bowls, soft bed, food, dog house, etc). I was gone less than 2 hours and when I got home Wolf was gone. As it turned out, my neighbors caught him in their backyard sleeping in their kids sand box and held him for me. I found out how he got out by digging under the gate but not before eating the wires from the 1) telephone, 2) air conditioners, 3) cable TV, 4) home alarm system and 5) the gate solar power supply. Needless to say I was a little concerned about our future relationship. He had effectively cut us off from civilization in less than 2 hours!

Goes to show you that soul mates can start off on rocky grounds and end up in a pure loving environment. Wolf would have been 9 yrs old soon and it seems like only months since we got together. He's my number one son along with Blue, Ben, Benji, and my girls Dixie and Lucy.

Bless you Wolfgang. You were a gentle dog and a loving companion. I'm sorry how this turned out but I wouldn't give up one minute of your friendship and would give up a year of my time left for just a few minutes more with you.
